VISIT US AT THE "BIG E"

This year the AMBER Alert Child ID Program will return to the “BIG E”. We will be located behind the Connecticut Building as we have been for the last 3 years.

Hours are 10:00 am to 9:00 pm
September 14 to September 30

Join us and tell your neighbors that everyone who brings their children can register them free of charge. Last year we provided cards to over 3780 children and this year we hope to do about 5,000.

Rotary bring this important program to everyone with the cost to register your child and get 1 card is free. We do recommend additional cards, at least 1 per parent, for the cost of $ 2.00 each and all of the fund go directly into the Amber accounts. There are no paid employees. Donations are greatly appreciated.

Any questions please email me at amberchildid@ct.metrocast.net

What is AMBER Alert?

It is a voluntary nationwide partnership to combat child abduction by providing immediate descriptive information to law enforcement, television, radio, and traffic signs across the country to aid in a child’s safe recovery.

The AMBER Alert System began in 1996 when Dallas-Fort Worth broadcasters partnered with local law enforcement to develop an early warning system to help find abducted children.  AMBER, stands for America’s Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response.  The AMBER Alert System was created as a legacy to 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, who was kidnapped while riding her bicycle in Arlington, Texas, and then brutally murdered.  In May 2003, President George W. Bush signed into law a national AMBER Alert Program.

What is the AMBER Alert Safe Child ID Project?

It is a voluntary program for all children under the age of 18.  Parents/Guardians of participating children receive a wallet sized, plastic card with a picture of the child, a unique AMBER ID number and only minimal, yet essential information needed to identify the child.  This information is stored in a secure data base.  This card can be presented to law enforcement in the event a child is abducted.  The information can be transmitted to law enforcement and to the public via Television, Radio and Traffic Signs.  This assists law enforcement by providing additional eyes of the public to look for the vehicle and occupants listed in the alert.
